Overview

The EM31720 is a 3-in-1 narrow slit optical sensor with integrated ALS+PS+Driver+VCSEL. Proximity detection provides object detection (e.g. mobile device screen to user's ear) through photodiode detection of reflected IR energy (provided by integrated VCSEL); with wide range offset adjustment to compensate for unwanted IR energy reflection at the sensor; The architecture allows applications to accurately measure ambient light so that devices can calculate illumination to control display backlighting. With high sensitivity, low crosstalk and long-distance detection, it is suitable for narrow slit ALS ambient light and PS distance detection for mobile phones with small light transmission and large airgap.
